Bible-based Trauma Healing

Finding Strength in God’s Word

About This Group

Every Tuesday, from 09/23/2025 to 11/04/2025, 7:00 PM - 9:00 PM

Coordinator: Diane R. Sollazzo

Attendance Limit: 12

This one is a cooperative venture between 2 churches: Westview Bible Church and Peoples Church of Montreal. Diane Sollazzo and Sarah Dhanaraj are the facilitators.

If you suffer from sadness, exhaustion, anger, feelings of isolation, or unprocessed grief, whatever the source, this small group may be for you. If you have healed from pain in the past and wish to help others dealing with these kinds of pain, the group may be for you as well.

This group is for Montreal Christians who wish to share and learn together.

Together, we will make a safe space for group members to:

  • Discover what the Bible says about suffering

  • Learn about trauma and its effects

  • Build resilience for the future

  • Learn to help others

About the Group Model

This healing group uses the proven and time-tested model of the Trauma Healing Institute at American Bible Society. Using applied Scripture and best mental health principles.

We are not professional healers, not doctors, psychiatrists or psychologists. We are Christians who care. We do not offer therapy, but we do offer support.

The group uses the book Caring for the Wounded Heart. Different forms of this book are in use in over 100 countries with more than 194 language groups in Africa, Asia, the Pacific and the Americas. To learn more about the model, the Trauma Healing Institute, and its work in equipping and supporting a global community of workers in trauma care, please visit TraumaHealingInstitute.org.

Purchase of the book is not required for participation. If you wish to purchase it, you can purchase a paperback version from Amazon  (paperback) or the Canadian Bible Society in digital format (cheaper) or paperback

The above links are for the Canadian edition. There is also a cheaper North American edition available at Amazon. The differences between the two are minor.

This program is run in conjunction with Trauma Healing Institute of the American and Canadian Bible Societies.

THI: Domestic Abuse

Wednesday, October 22, 2025, 7:00 PM - 9:00 PM

Attendance Limit: 16

We are planning a gathering of people to discuss the issue of domestic abuse and how the church can help on Zoom. This is part of the Trauma Healing Institute's program for healing broken hearts and the session is for people who have finished the Trauma Healing Core or attended at least 2 out of the six sessions.

In this session we will:

  • Consider what the Bible says about how we should treat family members and compare that with cultural beliefs and practice.

  • Discuss how to help people trapped in abusive situations.

  • Discuss how to help abusers repent and take steps toward recovery.

If you have meet the pre-requisites, you can register here.

If you have not met them, or you would prefer an afternoon group or a group meeting on a Thursday evening, you can register on this other form

NEW! - Nor part of the Trauma Healing Institute, but related to the topic of Domestic Abuse: The Rapha Project is offering a series of webinars. You can read about them here.
